The Graduate School at the College of Charleston has nearly 30 master’s degree and graduate certificate programs, but the Director of Recruitment, Marketing and Communications says she’s seeing the most interest in one topic – teacher education.

“There are a lot of people who have worked in the corporate world for five to seven years who are now interested in teaching,” says Cicely McCray. “We are seeing engineers inquiring about our M.Ed. in Math and Science for Teachers, and we’re seeing former communications professionals interested in the M.A.T. Early Childhood Education.”

The Graduate School is hosting Graduate Education Week from January 22 through 29, 2014 to promote graduate education. Some of the most-asked questions will be addressed on January 28 in an information session on scholarships and assistantships. The session will be held in the Beatty Center room 120 from 2-3 p.m.

There are several opportunities to hear about careers and alumni outcomes, as well as several opportunities to tour facilities. On January 22, there will be a tour of the classrooms for the M.S. in Historic Preservation program, a joint endeavor with Clemson University (292 Meeting St.) and on January 23, there will be a tour of Grice Marine Lab (Fort Johnson), home of the Master’s in Marine Biology.
