Anita Zucker, chairperson and CEO of the InterTech Group, will speak at the College of Charleston’s Winter Commencement on December 14, 2013. The ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the TD Arena.

More than 400 students will receive their degrees during the event.

Spoleto Festival U.S.A General Manager Nigel Redden will also be presented with an honorary degree during the commencement.

Anita Zucker

Anita Zucker is a graduate of the University of Florida, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She received a Master of Education degree from the University of North Florida in Educational Administration and Supervision.

Zucker taught elementary school for over ten years and now serves as Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer for The InterTech Group, Inc.  She also owns the Carolina Ice Palace, the Original Ms. Rose’s Fine Food and Cocktails, Tristan restaurant on Market Street, and the South Carolina Stingrays.

Zucker is a past President of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, and of The Education Foundation of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce.  She also chaired the Drug-Free Workplace Program and participated in the School to Work Task Force. She is a past vice-president of Education and Leadership and formerly chaired the Business Education Council, and the Business Education Partnership Committee.

Zucker serves on The Coastal Community Foundation Board and is a past President. She also serves as a trustee (the first woman) of the Saul Alexander Foundation and The Jewish Endowment Fund, which are supporting organizations of The Coastal Community Foundation.

At the College of Charleston, she has served on boards for the School of Languages, Cultures, and World Affairs, the School of Business, and the Jewish Studies Program.

Nigel Redden

General Director Nigel Redden rejoined Spoleto Festival USA in October 1995. He had previously been general manager from 1986 to 1991. After leaving the festival in 1991, Mr. Redden served as executive director of the Santa Fe Opera and executive producer of the Lincoln Center Festival.

As general director of Spoleto Festival USA, Nigel Redden is responsible for all aspects of the festival including fundraising, financial administration, marketing, union negotiations, artists’ contracts, board development, and programming.

Nigel Redden also leads the Lincoln Center Festival as director. He was director of the National Endowment for the Arts’ Dance Program from 1981 to 1986 and has served on various NEA panels over the years. Nigel Redden graduated from Yale University with a bachelor of arts degree in art history.
