Renowned Filmmaker Michael Apted to Talk About Documentary Film “56 UP”

Director, producer and writer  Michael Apted will be on the College of Charleston campus for a screening of his documentary “56 UP” on September 3, 2013. The screening, hosted by the College’s film studies program, will be held in room 118 in the Education Center (25 St. Philip St.) starting at 6 p.m.  The event is free and open to the public.
A prolific director, Apted is best known for such critically-acclaimed works such as ““Coal Miner’s Daughter”, “Gorillas in the Mist”, “Nell,” and the UP series.

The movie 56 UP is part a series of documentary films that have followed the lives of fourteen British children since 1964, when they were seven years old.  The eight documentary films span 49 years.  In 2005, the series topped the list of “The 50 Greatest Documentaries”.

Apted will answer questions following the screening.
