Maegli Named College Sailor of the Year

College of Charleston’s Juan Maegli (Guatemala City, Guatemala) was named College Sailor of the Year and awarded the Everett B. Morris Trophy at the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) banquet held at the conclusion of the 2013 College Sailing Spring National Championships in St. Petersburg, Fla.

MBA Students Learn Business Concepts in Dubai

The College of Charleston School of Business’ Master of Business Administration (MBA) program is one of few in the nation to require a study abroad experience as part of its global curriculum. From June 15 through June 27, 2013, the Class of 2013 will study in Dubai where they will experience international finance, hotel management, and global brand/marketing – all areas that parallel the three MBA focus areas (finance, hospitality revenue management, and marketing).

butcherbeeCollege of Charleston students will take sport nutrition out of the classroom and into the kitchen on Thursday, May 30, 2013 from 9-11 a.m. Health and Human Performance Professor Tim Scheett will take his class to Butcher & Bee (654 King St.) where Chef Stuart Tracy will demonstrate how heat alters protein structure during cooking process, how acid can be used to alter protein structure as a means of preparing raw seafood and/or fish, healthy cooking methods and economical preparations of vegetables.

Being named Teacher of the Year for a school district is a big deal. It is also a big deal when the Teachers of the Year for all three Charleston-area school districts are graduates of the College of Charleston School of Education, Health, and Human Performance. Dean Fran Welch calls it the “triple crown.” The last “triple crown” was in 2007.
