The College of Charleston’s Office of Sustainability is hosting the second Sustainability Week from April 8 – April 11, 2013. Lectures and workshops are planned throughout the week focusing on the theme of “Food Security.”

“We are fortunate to tie into the College Reads! theme this year by focusing Sustainability Week on Food Security. There’s been a lot of buzz on campus around food because of Eating Animals and we’re excited to contribute to a new facet of this subject.” said Jen Jones, facilities coordinator for the Office of Sustainability.

Events on the schedule include a Farmers’ Market co-hosted with Dining Services; Local Food Cook Off; a garden workday in the Political Science Courtyard; and a potluck dinner fundraiser hosted by the sorority AKA and student organization Green CofC.

“Our second annual Sustainability Week is another accomplishment for the College as these series of events are a powerful collection of collaborative functions, community outreach, and unveiling of completed sustainability projects,” states Brian Fisher, Director of the Office of Sustainability.

All events are open to the public.
