    RSS

The public is again invited to the College of Charleston Observatory for a free open house on November 16, 2012 starting at 6:30 p.m. Weather permitting, the 16-in telescope in the rooftop observatory and the observing deck with smaller telescopes will be available. Stargazers will be able to see Mars, Jupiter (and its four large moons), Uranus, and several double stars and nebulae. The Department of Physics and Astronomy will also be providing activities and demonstrations for all ages in several rooms on the first floor of the Rita Liddy Hollings Science Center (corner of George and Coming Streets).  Enter via the Coming Street entrance and check in with the Society of Physics Students host, who will direct you to the location of the indoor and outdoor activities.

If you plan to bring a large group (10 or more), or if you will need special accommodations, please contact Chris True prior to the event at truec@cofc.edu or 843.953.2031.

Open-toed shoes are not permitted on the observing deck. Please dress warmly (it can be several degrees cooler and much windier on the roof than at ground level).

For more information, contact Laura Penny at pennyl@cofc.edu.
