The College of Charleston School of Business’ Initiative for Public Choice and Market Process will present a lecture from economist Wayne Leighton on September 18, 2012. His presentation Madmen, Intellectuals, and Academic Scribblers: The People Who Drive Political Change, and How They Do It, will be held in the Wells Fargo Auditorium starting at 3:00 p.m.

Leighton is a Distinguished Professor of Economics at Universidad Francisco Marroquin (UFM) and executive director of The Antigua Forum.  As executive director he leads a project designed to create a unique learning environment for political reformers enhancing their opportunity for success.   He also leads a monthly faculty seminar on “Mises, Marx and Socialism” and “Economics and Evolutionary Psychology.”

Leighton is the first speaker this semester in the College’s “BB&T Free Market Process” Speaker Series.

The event is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Initiative for Public Choice and Market Process that was founded in 2008 with a generous gift from the BB&T Charitable Foundation and the Charles G Koch Foundation.
