The College of Charleston has been ranked No. 4 among public colleges and universities in the South in the 2013 edition of Best Colleges by US News & World Report.

US News also ranked the College of Charleston No. 6 on the “Up and Comers” regional universities list. This list was created after the magazine asked college administrators to list institutions that they think have recently made the most promising and innovative changes in the areas of academics, faculty, student life, campus, or facilities.

The College was also named an “A+ School for B Students” among Southern regional universities.

“Our continued high ranking in such publications as US News and World Report is indicative of the growing awareness by students, parents, college counselors and others that the College of Charleston brings to our campus talented students who graduate and become leaders in society,” says Don Burkard, Associate Vice President for Enrollment Planning at the College. “More specifically, these rankings reflect the College’s adherence to its student-focused approach to education, its commitment to academic excellence and the special opportunities inherent in its unique location here in Charleston.”

The exclusive rankings, which include rankings of more than 1,400 schools nationwide, are available today at www.usnews.com/colleges, and will be published in the September issue of US News & World Report.

Last month, The Princeton Review named the College of Charleston as one of the country’s best institutions for undergraduate education.
