The College of Charleston Class of 2016 will begin their academic careers on August, 21, 2012. In many ways, they are the highest achieving class in College history. There are more valedictorians, salutatorians and Palmetto Fellows than ever before. There are also three Gates Millennium  Scholars and the Class boasts the highest average SAT scores. They are also entrepreneurs, humanitarians, and athletes. They’ve traveled from 43 states, nine countries and as far as 5,422 miles to enroll at the College. The most popular birth month is May (210 students are born in that month), the most common female names are Emily, Caroline, and Sarah, and the most common male names are William, James, and Matthew.

The Honors College at the College of Charleston is also welcoming a high-ranking class. Students are bringing in 800 more credits than last year for a total of 4,011, with 22% of students coming in with enough credits to be a sophomore. The Honors College is nearly evenly split between S.C. residents and out-of-state students, and their average percent rank in their high school class is 95.

“The Class of 2016 brings with them a broad range of experiences from community service to substantial leadership experiences,” says Suzette Stille, director of undergraduate admissions. “Their long list of impressive experiences and academic accomplishments will no doubt make a substantial impact on the school and the region for years to come.”
