Three College of Charleston Artist Certificate (piano) students will be featured on South Carolina ETV Public Radio (WSCI – 89.3 FM) on Thursday, August 30 at 8:00 p.m. The award winning students, Irwin Jiang, Amy Tan and Chee-Hang See, are under the tutelage of Enrique Graf, artist-in-residence in the College’s music department.

Top Feminist Scholar to Speak at College

The College of Charleston will host one of the most important feminist scholars of the last several decades on Friday, August 31, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the College of Charleston’s Sottile Theatre. bell hooks will present “Writing Beyond Race,” a presentation exploring what it means to live a life that combines political passions and personal commitments.  The event is free and open to the public.

Tuesday Night Classes and Events Cancelled

Due to heavy rains and local flooding, all College of Charleston classes and events will  be cancel beginning at 5 PM .

Classes will resume a normal schedule on Wednesday morning.

Food and cinema are essential components of the Italian culture and they will be brought together at the College of Charleston in a lecture by an internationally-known professor. Cristina Bragaglia will present a lecture on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 4:30 p.m. in the Robert Scott Small Building. The title of Bragaglia’s lecture is “Italian Food in Italian Cinema” and this event is free and open to the public.

Science Professors Awarded $300,000 NSF Grant

Two College of Charleston professors received a $334,630 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) that will give undergraduate students the opportunity to study the transport and transformation of pharmaceuticals in the environment.

Avery Research Center to Host Black Power Conference
