School of Business Sponsors “Rethinking Recycling”

The College of Charleston School of Business’ Think Differently Series continues on February 28 at 7:00 p.m. in the Beatty Center’s Wachovia Auditorium. Hosted by the Dean’s Student Forum, the event will focus on Rethinking Recycling with Charleston area businessman Scott Fennell presenting his views on recycling.

College Hosts Computer Programming Competition

The College of Charleston’s 29th Annual High School Computer Programming Competition will take place on February 25, 2011 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. in J.C. Long room 220. More than a dozen teams from North Carolina and South Carolina will compete, focusing on the technical and artistic quality of their solutions. The competition also promotes the fun aspects of competition and creates an infrastructure that supports success.

Cougars Clinch SoCon Regular Season Title

Junior Antwaine Wiggins scored a career-high 24 points and senior All-America candidate Andrew Goudelock added 23 to lead the College of Charleston men’s basketball team to a 75-49 rout of Samford on Senior Night at Carolina First Arena.

Honduran Ambassador to Visit College

The Honduran ambassador to the United States will visit the College of Charleston on Monday, February 28, 2011. During his visit, Jorge Ramon Hernandez-Alcerro will tour campus, have lunch with students and present a free public lecture titled “LATIN AMERICA – U.S. RELATIONS: Is Latin America in the U.S. Front Yard?” This lecture will be held at 2:30 p.m. in Arnold Hall (96 Wentworth St).

National Book Award Winner to Speak on Campus

The College of Charleston’s 2011 Visiting Writers Series is bringing nationally recognized authors to campus, including 2010 National Book Award winner Jaimy Gordon and Guggenheim Fellow Carolyn Forché.

Gordon will speak on Friday, February 25, at 6:00 p.m. in Alumni Memorial Hall in Randolph Hall. Gordon will also host a question and answer session from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. in Maybank Hall, room 107. Poet Carolyn Forché will read on campus on Thursday, April 21, at 7:00 p.m. in Alumni Memorial Hall. These events are free and open to the public.

Cougars Take on Vermont in ESPN Bracketbuster
