The College of Charleston will host two upcoming seminars for business professionals.

Export-Import Bank of the US Product Seminar on March 9, 2011

The seminar will take place on March 9, 2011 on the College of Charleston campus in Room 212 of the Beatty Center, 5 Liberty Street. The Global Business Resource Center in the School of Business is hosting the Export-Import Bank for the event.

The presenter for the event will be Sharyn Koenig, the Director of the Southeast Regional Export Finance Center in Miami, which assists small exporters in South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. Sharyn is an Ex-Im Bank veteran with almost 30 years of experience dealing with their finance and insurance products.

Topics to be covered include the Working Capital Guarantee Program and the Export Credit Insurance Program. The program is of interest to small-to-medium-sized SC exporters who want to learn from Sharyn how to take their exports to the next level.

Sharyn will be available for one-on-one meetings with exporters after lunch.

There is a nominal fee of $20.00 (check payable to the College of Charleston).

Certified Global Business Professional ™ Training on March 18 and 19, 2011

The Global Business Resource Center in the School of Business will hold the sessions on Friday, March 18 and Saturday, March 19 in Beatty Center Room 220 at 5 Liberty Street. Each day will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 5 p.m., with one hour lunch on your own from noon until 1 p.m.

On Friday, topics will cover Global Management in the morning and International Trade Finance in the afternoon.  On Saturday, topics will be  Global Supply Chain Management/Logistics in the morning and Global Marketing in the afternoon. The sessions are taught by four of our CGBP-certified international business faculty members. The cost for the two days is $395, or $125 per half-day session.

Members of partner organizations and College of Charleston alums get a discounted fee of $295 for both days or $75 per half-day session. Students and faculty can attend for free on a space available basis only. Please email Kathryn Banks at banksk@cofc.edu for more information and to register.

The class is limited to 20 people. The training program and all trainers recently received accreditation from NASBITE International, the group of trade educators that developed and now oversees the CGBP credentialing process.

The next window to take the national exam at a Prometrix testing center runs from April 25 through May 7, 2011. You must register with NASBITE by April 1, 2011 for a slot. The website is www.nasbitecgbp.org.
