An anonymous donor has issued a philanthropic challenge today to alumni of the College’s School of Business. The donor has agreed to a $25,000 gift to the School of Business if alumni can raise an additional $25,000 in new gifts to the School of Business by December 31, 2010.

The Alumni Challenge could raise up to $50,000 for the School of Business’ Dean’s Excellence Fund which includes funding for vital scholarships, innovative summer research opportunities for faculty and students, and program development for the new MBA program.  The Alumni Challenge gift will have unprecedented and direct impact on the business students, faculty and programs.

The donor, a member of the School of Business Board of Governors says, “Participation of our alumni is critical to advancing the School of Business across South Carolina, the country and around the world.”

“We need the reach and goodwill of our alumni to help elevate the School’s prominence and reputation for many of our programs such as the hospitality and tourism management, international business, M.S. in accountancy and our new MBA program,” says Alan T. Shao, dean of the School of Business.  “Together, we can meet the Alumni Challenge and make great things happen for our students.”
