The College of Charleston is hosting South Atlantic Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers fall 2010 meeting on October 22 and 23, 2010. Faculty from universities, K-12 science teachers and students will give poster presentations, plenary presentations and attend workshops. Those events are all free and open to the public. The event is presented by the College of Charleston’s Department of Physics and Astronomy.

“K-12 science teachers will learn new teaching methods implemented and tested by colleges and universities,” says Ana Oprisan, assistant physics professor and organizing committee chair. “They will also participate in hands-on activities and receive an experimental kit with booklet for use in their classes. The College’s graduate and undergraduate students will also present their capstone and research projects, which is an incredible opportunity.”

Workshop topics include Waves, Physics Labs with Flavor and Class Response Systems can Make your Lectures Interactive. The workshops are held on Saturday, October 23 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. The student poster sessions and plenary workshops are also held on October 23 from 9:30-12:00 p.m.
