Frances Welch, Dean of the School of Education, Health and Human Performance and Evelyn Nadel, Associate Dean of Students and Director of Community Relations were recently named “Woman of the Year “ by the the College of Charleston’s Office of Institutional Diversity.  The two will share the honor.

The Woman of the Year Award was created to honor a woman at the College of Charleston who has contributed significantly to improving human relations at the College of Charleston community, with special emphasis on improving intercultural relations and promoting an all-inclusive diversity. The nominations that were received highlighted excellence in teaching, leadership, individual contributions to the campus community, and/or professional, social, and cultural leadership.

The Office of Institutional Diversity received nine nominations on behalf of some of the women at the College of Charleston.

This is the first year that the “Woman of the Year” award.
