Primerica Inc.'s board of directors has elected longtime educator P. George Benson to its board of directors. Benson, 63, has been appointed to serve on both the audit and compensation committees, the company said in a news release Monday. Benson has been the president of the College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C. since February 2007.

Today I talked to a Phil Dustin, a marine biologist at the College of Charleston who said if the leak isn't contained soon there is a chance the North Carolina and South Carolina Coastline could see the effects here. Chances are slim, but currents could push oil toward our beaches.
