The School of Business recently received approval from the Board of Trustees to simplify its name from the School of Business and Economics. The purpose is to bring all departments, including economics, under one unified name.
“We have many new initiatives underway in the school and the simplified name is easier for us and our external constituents to identify with, particularly in the future if we have a major named donor,” says Alan T. Shao, dean of the School of Business. “The economics program is a vital part of our school’s curriculum. The School of Business name recognizes its importance by bringing it under the core business disciplines rather than as a distinct entity.”
